OpenAI and Samsung Electronics will jointly produce and research next-generation custom artificial intelligence chips.
Harrison Kim, General Manager of OpenAI Korea, announced the partnership expansion during a briefing in Seoul. Kim identified the chip initiative as a primary area of progress, though he did not provide technical specifications or a timeline.
Samsung currently operates as one of the largest global corporate users of ChatGPT Enterprise. The company utilizes the AI platform across its research and development, marketing, and sales departments.
The move builds on existing agreements for Samsung and SK Hynix to supply advanced memory chips for OpenAI’s Stargate data center project.
