Rheinmetall and Lockheed Martin signed a memorandum of understanding to produce ATACMS short-range ballistic missiles in Germany. This agreement establishes the first manufacturing site for these missiles outside of the United States. Both the German and U.S. governments support the deal, which was announced at a NATO industry forum in Ankara.
The partnership creates a European center of excellence to supply NATO members and allied nations. Production will occur at Rheinmetall’s facility in Unterluess, northern Germany. The initiative addresses high munitions demand while strengthening European industrial capacity.
