RTX is investing $100 million to expand its defense facility in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. The project is expected to create 150 high-tech jobs in the state.

The expansion will accelerate testing for the next-generation Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS). It also increases production of subcomponents for Patriot GEM-T interceptor missiles to meet rising global demand.

This move follows a recent $53 million expansion at another company radar production facility. Defense contractors are currently scaling manufacturing to address large order backlogs fueled by security concerns in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
