RTX will sell its satellite manufacturing subsidiary, Blue Canyon Technologies, to Canadian firm MDA Space. The all-cash deal is valued at $620 million. Blue Canyon Technologies specializes in small satellites and spacecraft components. RTX acquired the Colorado-based firm in 2020.
RTX divests Blue Canyon Technologies to focus on its core aerospace and defense businesses. MDA Space expands its U.S. manufacturing footprint with the acquisition. The deal strengthens MDA's position in the growing U.S. defense and government space market. The transaction is expected to add approximately $3.5 billion to MDA's opportunity pipeline. It is anticipated to close by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approvals.
