A New York state judge rejected Shell’s petition to vacate an arbitration award favoring Venture Global. The ruling concludes Shell’s challenge over Venture Global’s failure to provide contractually obligated LNG shipments from the Calcasieu Pass facility.
Shell and other energy firms alleged that Venture Global prioritized high spot market prices over long-term contracts following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Shell claimed in court filings that Venture Global concealed internal communications from the arbitration panel.
The judge determined that arbitral decisions warrant substantial deference. The court ruled that no further discovery was necessary to resolve the dispute.
