Shell PLC became India’s largest imported gas supplier in March. The company increased liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments to offset major disruptions from Qatar. Qatar previously served as India's top supplier but declared force majeure due to conflict in West Asia.

Shell utilized its global portfolio and the 5 million-tonnes-per-year Hazira terminal in Gujarat to fill the gap. The company secured 4 trillion British thermal units (TBtus) of a recent supply tender. This tender provided a total of 6 TBtus to Indian fertilizer companies.

Shell’s increased LNG imports are expected to continue through April. These shipments reinforce India’s energy security during a period of geopolitical uncertainty.
