Sun Life Financial reported second-quarter 2026 underlying net income of CAD 1.12 billion. This result represents a 10% increase over the previous year. Underlying earnings per share rose 13% to CAD 2.02, surpassing analyst expectations.
The company recorded growth across its Canadian, U.S., and Asian operations. Asset management businesses also contributed to the quarterly performance. The insurer maintained a LICAT capital ratio of 145%.
Sun Life returned approximately CAD 500 million to shareholders through dividends during the quarter. The company declared a quarterly dividend of $0.96 per share. It also authorized the repurchase of up to 10 million common shares through a renewed issuer bid.
