Anthropic is negotiating with Samsung Electronics to manufacture custom artificial intelligence chips. The partnership focuses on Samsung’s 2-nanometer process and advanced packaging technologies. These chips will optimize performance for Anthropic’s Claude AI models.

The strategy aims to reduce operational costs and decrease reliance on third-party suppliers like Nvidia. This potential agreement positions Samsung’s foundry business to compete more effectively against industry leader TSMC.

Discussions remain in the preliminary stages. Samsung previously invested in Anthropic during a Series H funding round in May 2026.
