South Korea launched a public-private investment plan for semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and robotics. This initiative, one of three flagship megaprojects, establishes technology hubs outside Seoul to secure the global AI supply chain.
Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will invest 800 trillion won ($518 billion) in a southwest semiconductor hub. Each company plans to construct two new fabrication plants.
The government projects 1 quadrillion won in AI data center investments. It aims to complete these projects by 2035.
An additional 81 trillion won will fund advanced chip packaging facilities.
