Tesla Energy dispatched over 500 MW of power to California’s electrical grid during a heatwave on September 9.
Approximately 69,000 Powerwall home batteries powered the Virtual Power Plant (VPP) event. CEO Elon Musk noted the distributed system functioned as a mid-sized power plant to support peak demand.
Separately, Tesla announced on September 10 that the Cybertruck Powershare feature is now compatible with Powerwall 3. This integration allows the vehicle and home battery to provide extended backup power together.
