Tesla unveiled its autonomous Cybercab vehicle in Tokyo on September 11. This marked the vehicle's first public appearance in Japan.
The two-seat vehicle is designed exclusively for ride-hailing. It features no steering wheel or pedals. The Cybercab is already in mass production in the United States.
The Tokyo debut kicks off a multi-city tour. The Cybercab is also scheduled for display in Osaka and Nagoya later in September.
Tesla has already started a limited robotaxi service in Texas. The company has not announced a timeline for launching commercial operations in Japan. The tour serves as a public exhibition to showcase the technology.
