Tesla pulled its latest Full Self-Driving (FSD) software update, version 14.3.9, on September 8, 2026. The company withdrew the update, part of software update 2026.27.6, minutes after it began rolling out to customer vehicles. Owners noted the withdrawal while downloading the software. Tesla has not provided an official reason for the reversal.
The update included a new feature: "Automatic Collision Evasion." This feature would engage FSD if the system predicted an imminent frontal collision during manual driving. This marked the first instance of the supervised driving system taking control from a human driver outside of normal operation. Tesla intended the rollout for vehicles in North America. These vehicles were equipped with the latest AI hardware.
