Tesla increased its new vehicle warranty for customers in Australia and New Zealand to five years with unlimited kilometers. The company calls this change a "global first."

The new coverage applies to all new Model 3 and Model Y vehicles delivered since January 1, 2026. This policy also includes five years of roadside assistance.

This policy significantly enhances the previous four-year, 80,000 km warranty. The move aligns Tesla with offerings from most mainstream carmakers in the Australian market, and Tesla intends the change to instill greater ownership confidence amid intensifying EV competition.

Warranty coverage for the high-voltage battery and electric drive unit remains unchanged at eight years. Mileage limits are set at 160,000 kilometers or 192,000 kilometers, depending on the specific model.
