Tesla introduced a new seven-seat configuration for the Model Y Premium trim in the United States. The company announced the update on the evening of January 12th, with reports following on January 13th. This new layout is available as a $2,500 option.

The seven-seat variant now includes features previously exclusive to the Performance trim. These additions include a larger 16-inch touchscreen display and a black headliner.

Tesla implemented the update to address frequent consumer requests for increased seating capacity. The company aims to attract larger families and enhance the vehicle’s competitiveness within the crossover market.
