A new report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicates that Tesla's Robotaxi service has experienced four crashes since its launch in Austin in September. The most recent incident involved a vehicle hitting a stationary object in a parking lot. When comparing performance data, the report finds Tesla Robotaxis crash approximately once every 62,500 miles traveled. This rate is significantly higher than Waymo's, whose autonomous vehicles crash about every 98,600 miles. It's also noted that Tesla's service operates with human safety monitors in the vehicles, a requirement not present for Waymo's fleet.
