Tesla has secured a significant $170 million contract to supply its Megapack battery storage systems to Australia's largest wind farm, Golden Plains Wind Farm, near Rokewood, Victoria. The deal involves providing 168 Megapack 2XL units for a 150MW/600MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This project will enhance the flexibility and reliability of Victoria's power grid by storing clean energy generated by the wind farm. The system will utilize Tesla's AI-powered Autobidder platform for autonomous energy trading and monetization. The four-hour Megapack system will operate as a grid-forming battery, providing essential system strength services to support the transmission network, especially during periods of high renewable energy generation.
