Samsung Electronics has completed the final design phase for Tesla's next-generation AI5 chip. This processor will power future versions of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system and Optimus humanoid robots.

Manufacturing will take place at Samsung’s new facility in Taylor, Texas. The plant will utilize advanced 2-nanometer process technology for the project.

This collaboration allows Tesla to diversify its semiconductor supply chain beyond TSMC. Initial production is scheduled to begin by the end of 2026. Mass production of the AI5 chip is expected to follow in 2027.
