Tesla launched a driverless ride-hailing service for employees using the new Cybercab at its Texas Gigafactory. The company confirmed the milestone via a post on the social media platform X.
These purpose-built vehicles feature a design for full autonomy without steering wheels or pedals. This deployment transitions the Cybercab program from closed-track engineering to an active internal service.
The initiative serves as a proof-of-concept for Tesla’s planned revenue-generating robotaxi network. While Tesla previously tested Cybercabs on public roads with safety monitors, these internal trips represent a new phase of fully autonomous operation.
