Visa and Mastercard are nearing a court-approved settlement with major merchants. The settlement would adjust rules on credit card acceptance and surcharging practices. This follows decades of litigation over interchange fees and transaction terms.
Separately, Visa announced a strategic partnership with Oromia Bank. This partnership expands digital payment services for customers in Ethiopia.
Visa also signed a debit partnership with Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) in the Philippines. RCBC will issue Visa-branded debit cards, supporting the country's move toward a cash-lite economy.
