The U.S. government is preparing to deploy Anthropic’s Mythos artificial intelligence model across major federal agencies. A memo reviewed by Bloomberg News shows the White House Office of Management and Budget notified Cabinet technology and cybersecurity chiefs to expect rollout details within weeks.

Anthropic previously restricted Mythos to a select group of companies to prevent hackers from weaponizing the tool for data theft or network sabotage. The company briefed senior U.S. officials on the model’s offensive and defensive cyber applications prior to its limited release.

The Treasury Department sought access to the model to identify internal software vulnerabilities. This expansion marks a significant increase in sophisticated AI adoption by the public sector.
