Broadcom Inc. and Meta Platforms, Inc. launched a multi-year partnership to develop custom AI accelerator chips. The collaboration focuses on Meta’s Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) chips.

Broadcom provides foundational XPU platform technology to scale Meta’s AI compute infrastructure. The companies will co-design hardware to power AI features for WhatsApp, Instagram, and Threads.

The initial deployment phase exceeds 1 gigawatt of power capacity. Plans include a sustained, multi-gigawatt rollout through 2029.

Broadcom applies expertise in chip design, packaging, and Ethernet networking to the project. This agreement solidifies Broadcom’s position in the AI hardware sector.
