Elon Musk announced Tesla and SpaceX will use Intel’s future 14A process technology for the Terafab AI chip project. This partnership secures Intel’s first major external customer for its most advanced manufacturing node.

Musk described the 14A process as state-of-the-art during Tesla’s recent earnings call. The deal validates Intel’s costly effort to catch up to foundry leader TSMC.

Intel shares rose approximately 3% in extended trading following the announcement. Musk expressed confidence the technology will be ready as the Terafab project scales.
