Xiaomi plans to invest at least 60 billion yuan ($8.7 billion) into artificial intelligence development over the next three years. CEO Lei Jun announced the initiative on Thursday alongside the unveiling of the company’s new MiMo-V2-Pro AI technology.

The commitment marks one of the largest AI-specific investments by a major technology firm to date. This move signals Xiaomi’s intent to compete as a primary player in the global AI sector.

The spending will directly support the broader technology ecosystem, specifically semiconductor designers and manufacturers. These suppliers provide the high-performance chips required for advanced AI development.
