Volkswagen sold 1,421 electric vehicles in the United States in the third quarter of 2026, down 90% year over year. ID.4 sales fell 92.1% to 989 units. ID. Buzz sales dropped 82.5% to 432 units. Volkswagen’s total U.S. sales, including gasoline-powered vehicles, declined 10.9% in the quarter.
The company halted U.S. production of the ID.4 in April to increase manufacturing capacity for gasoline-powered SUVs. It has relied on existing inventory to meet EV demand since then.
Volkswagen is awaiting the new ID. Tiguan, which will replace the ID.4 in the North American market. The model is scheduled to launch in Europe in early 2027.
