Barrick Gold and Newmont Corporation reached an agreement on August 11, 2026, to resolve all disputes regarding the Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) joint venture.

Newmont will pay Barrick $1.95 billion in cash as part of the transaction.

The deal consolidates key assets to create a gold complex containing nearly 100 million ounces. Barrick contributes its Fourmile project, while Newmont adds its Mike and Fiberline deposits to the venture.

Updated governance frameworks aim to improve long-term operational efficiency for the partnership.

This settlement secures Newmont’s approval for Barrick to launch an Initial Public Offering (IPO) of its North American gold assets. The IPO is expected to conclude by the end of 2026.
