Exxon Mobil plans a final investment decision for the Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique during the second half of 2026. President Daniel Chapo confirmed the timeline following meetings with company executives in Brussels.
The megaproject carries an estimated cost of $30 billion. This development follows the lifting of a force majeure in late 2025. Security concerns previously suspended operations in 2021 following regional terrorist attacks.
The project remains a central pillar of Exxon’s long-term growth strategy. The Mozambican government established a dedicated committee to coordinate with the company. The Rovuma project will share critical infrastructure with a neighboring LNG site led by TotalEnergies.
