Toyota Motor Corporation will begin importing US-made Camry sedans to Japan starting in autumn 2026. The move aims to alleviate trade tensions by reducing Japan’s trade surplus with the United States.

Toyota’s plant in Georgetown, Kentucky, will manufacture the right-hand drive vehicles. The automaker expects an annual import volume of 10,000 units.

This decision follows the 2025 introduction of US import duties that impacted Japanese automaker earnings. All imported Camry models will feature hybrid-electric powertrains.
