Equinor discovered between 20 and 30 million barrels of oil equivalent at the Johan Sverdrup field. These North Sea volumes follow the successful completion of appraisal wells. The discovery extends the field's longevity and increases overall profitability.

These resources will anchor a fourth phase of development at the major oilfield. Equinor plans to connect a subsea development to existing Johan Sverdrup infrastructure. This strategy targets rapid development with low costs and reduced emissions.

The project is moving toward a final investment decision. Production is scheduled to begin in 2029. This expansion aims to sustain value creation from Norway’s largest oil-producing asset.
