Ford is facing mounting challenges in China as hundreds of Mondeo owners have launched a collective complaint against the automaker, coinciding with the launch of the new 2026 model. The protest focuses on significant infotainment system failures in 2022-2025 models, which owners describe as frequently freezing, crashing, and potentially compromising driving safety. More than 360 owners have joined the complaint, criticizing the outdated Qualcomm 820A chip powering the systems. Customers claim Ford marketed the cars with "intelligent cabins" and promised over-the-air updates, but the systems lack standard connectivity features and the proprietary Ford app is unreliable. These issues compound Ford's long-standing difficulties in the Chinese market, which include years of financial losses and internal competition between its joint ventures.
