Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 413,000 Explorer SUVs in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the action for certain 2017-2019 models. Rear suspension toe links in these vehicles may fracture and cause a loss of steering control. Ford is aware of two accidents potentially linked to the issue, though no injuries have been reported.
The automaker is also recalling an additional 40,655 vehicles for separate safety concerns. These defects include battery failures and faulty brake pedals that increase crash risks. Authorized dealers will replace all defective components free of charge for affected owners.
