Ford Motor Company is recalling 272,645 vehicles in the United States. The action addresses a potential loss of the park function, which increases the risk of a crash if the vehicle rolls away.
The recall targets several of Ford’s newer electric and hybrid models. These include the 2022-2026 F-150 Lightning, the 2024-2026 Mustang Mach-E, and the 2025-2026 Maverick.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that the integrated park module may fail to lock into position when the driver shifts into park.
Ford plans to resolve the issue using an over-the-air software update to the park module. Dealers will perform the software update free of charge for vehicles that cannot be updated remotely.
