Alphabet’s Google will introduce its Games Level Up Program on September 30, 2026, in markets including the U.S., UK and EEA. Qualifying game developers will pay a 15% service fee on transactions from new installs.
The program is part of a broader overhaul that separates Google’s service fee from its billing fee. The changes follow legal settlements and regulatory pressure, and are intended to make Android more attractive to game developers.
To qualify, developers must meet quality and integration requirements. These include adopting the latest Play Games Services SDK and supporting features such as Google Play Games on PC.
The updated fee structure is set to expand to Japan and South Korea by the end of 2026. Google plans a global rollout by September 2027.
