The White House on Tuesday launched America.gov, an AI-powered chatbot designed to serve as a centralized portal for U.S. government information and services. The initiative aims to simplify public access to resources currently spread across thousands of federal websites, allowing users to ask questions about topics like passport renewals, Medicare enrollment, and small business loans.

The platform is a partnership with the private sector, utilizing Google's Gemini and X's Grok AI models to power its responses. The launch event was attended by numerous tech executives, including leaders from Google, Nvidia, and OpenAI. While intended to streamline bureaucracy, the project's reliance on generative AI raises concerns about the potential for inaccurate answers, a known issue with large language models.
